ZP Microphones is an independent boutique microphone manufacturer based in Belgium.

We create studio microphones for recording professionals who care about one thing

above all else: how it sounds.

Our approach is simple.

Listen. Engineer. Measure. Refine. Listen again.

​

Because a microphone is more than a collection of specifications.

It is the first and arguably most important link between a performance and a recording.

BEYOND RECREATING THE CLASSICS

Some of the greatest microphones ever created

have shaped the sound of recorded music for generations.

We respect that heritage.

​

But ZP was never created simply to make another copy of the past.

We study what makes legendary microphones special 

​

their capsules, circuits, components and acoustic behaviour

and use that knowledge as a starting point for our own designs.

​

Sometimes that means preserving a character we love.

Sometimes it means changing what we don't.

And sometimes it means creating something completely different.

​

The result is a small collection of microphones, each designed with a clear sonic purpose.

moving between the weight and intimacy associated with the U47 tradition and the openness and air of the ELA M251 tradition.

smooth, dimensional and controlled, built around the ZP M7 capsule.

Inspired by the unmistakable presence and openness of the Sony C-800G,

re-engineered around a modern solid-state platform without a tube, external power supply or warm-up time.

BUILT IN BELGIUM

ZP microphones are developed and handcrafted in Belgium.

Capsules, circuits, transformers and individual components are selected

as parts of a complete system rather than simply from a specification sheet.

​

We prototype.

We measure.

We compare.

Most importantly, we listen.

​

Small changes can make meaningful differences, and a design isn't finished simply because it measures correctly.

It's finished when we're happy with what comes out of the speakers.

SMALL BY CHOICE

ZP isn't a mass-production microphone company.

And we don't want to become one.

Remaining independent allows us to develop microphones differently,

experiment with ideas that might never make sense on a large production line,

carefully select components and give customers direct support from the people behind the microphones.

​

It also allows us to build unusual products such as the Duo Vintage

ideas that exist because we wanted to hear what was possible, not because a marketing department asked for another microphone.

​

DON'T TAKE OUR WORD FOR IT.

You can describe microphones with words like

warm, open, detailed, smooth and three-dimensional.

But those words only go so far.

That's why listening is central to ZP.

Wherever possible, we provide raw recordings and direct comparisons

so you can hear what our microphones actually do — without relying on marketing claims.

Because ultimately, there is only one opinion that matters.
